Flyers & Advertising
Schatt & Morgan, Queen City and Queen Cutlery were, first and foremost, manufacturers and marketers of consumer products. In the early days their products were marketed as tools, to be used by farmers, tradespeople, hunters, fishermen and other sportsmen. Some products, such as the smaller pearl handled knives, were intended for so called “gentlemen”. In addition to consumers, the knife companies had to promote to distributors, jobbers and hardware stores in order to get space for display cases and put stock on shelves for consumers to buy.
In later years, starting somewhat in the 1970’s and really taking off in the ’80’s and ’90’s, the knife collector market became the primary target. America had become more affluent and had moved away from the agrarian society prevalent in the early part of the 20th century. As you browse through the Queen Cutlery catalogs on our Catalogs page, you can see how the basic, black and white, pages of the 1940’s through 1970’s gave way to full color, upmarket catalogs starting in 1980.
To supplement the catalogs and to draw attention to new products, Queen Cutlery produced full color sales flyers. These were usually just one sheet of paper, sometimes printed on both sides. Queen Cutlery Guide has included many such flyers here. Just click on the Download button to view of save them.
